PURGIT has
vapor control equipment to degas big tanks. Using our proprietary
system, we remove concentrated vapors and recover (condense) them
to liquid, putting the non-condensed vapor back in the tank. Our system
is closed loop. The
PURGIT condensers can handle up to 15 pounds of pressure without a
release because we do not have a vent stack for tank vapors. Our
condensers can be chilled to -175o F (-113 Co).
The
capacity of this tank is 100,050 bbl. In about 88 hours we recovered
over 5,000 gallons of isoprene and the tank was never opened to the
outside air (zero air intrusion). The tank vapor space was saturated
with cargo vapors and had a nitrogen pad when we started. When we
finished the tank was still inert - that is no air was added it still
had the nitrogen pad. Only enough nitrogen gas was added (at no extra
cost since we make nitrogen gas as a by-product) to keep the tank in a
positive pressure.
Our
mobile
equipment is capable of moving to any shore tank or marine vessel. In
the first 19 months of
operation with the new condenser we recovered over 91 tons (about
82,500 kg) of VOC liquid. Almost every other emission control company
that does this work use combustors to burn the cargo vapors. You will
never see them keeping track of the tons they burn, because those tons
are released as greenhouse gases. Some of the combustor outfits will
claim they can get 99.99% efficiency, but even if they can, the
material is burned sending emissions into the air.
