TANK DEGASSING
The PURGIT condenser system is the best solution for controlling emissions during the degassing and cleaning of floating & fixed roof tanks, rail cars, chemical tanks, etc. because it is safe and does not make pollution.
The PURGIT system controls vapors in a ‘closed loop’. The EPA refers to this configuration as a closed vent.
PURGIT uses a proprietary system that condenses and recovers tank vapors rather than burning them in a thermal oxidizer. Thermal oxidizers are wasteful and dangerous.
Our mobile system draws the vapors out of the tank with a blower and then pushes them through a series of condensers. The VOC vapors are condensed back to their liquid phase and transferred to a holding tank for recycling. The return stream of non- condensable gases is injected back into the storage tank which mixes the remaining vapor. This efficient technique speeds up vapor control and has other benefits. For instance, mixing is necessary for any degassing system to get an accurate cross section when testing and to thoroughly de-gas the tank. Without mixing the tank vapor is subject to channeling. PURGIT has the technology and equipment to avoid channeling.
PURGIT operates the only mobile condenser system for tank degassing in the USA.
In addition, PURGIT’s system can de-gas an inert tank (low or zero 02) and keep it that way. It has the capacity to add nitrogen gas back to the tank thereby maintaining a tank pressure. This is an important quality in pressurized tanks.

The PURGIT ‘Closed-Vent’ system is an environmentally friendly solution. It is superior to all combustion systems for floating or fixed roof tank degassing. Call if this type of vapor control equipment could be useful to you. 713-201-7517
